Stacy Peterson spent part of her childhood sketching along the mossy banks of Storm Lake, Iowa before wanderlust led her to the sunny coast of California, the finger lakes of New York and the desert plains of Texas.
Her art career began in Houston as an art director in advertising, which then led to New York City working for top agencies. After years of hustle & bustle, Stacy longed to spend more time at home with a new baby, so she put together an illustration portfolio. Finding success, she began illustrating full time and has produced numerous greeting cards, and products including over sixty five children’s books for clients such as American Girl, Scholastic and even Madonna.
Always looking for a new challenge, Stacy explored manufacturing children’s bedding, but realized what she liked most was creating the patterns and prints. This led to surface pattern design, and she has created numerous collections for Blend fabrics, which is how she found her way to FreeSpirit. Stacy’s style is ever-evolving, much like her career, but her love of color and appreciation for design shines through.
Stacy still enjoys roaming, but stays closer to her Texas Hill Country home where, along a winding creek dancing with fireflies, she finds inspiration for her art.
