Stripology 2 - Pattern ATHENA

Join us for a fun day for a Stripology class.  We will be learning how to use the XL Stripology ruler to cut your prep time in half so you can enjoy more time sewing.   We will be doing the Athena pattern from the Stripology Mixology 2 book.  This pattern lends itself to much creativity in the placement of the blocks for endless opportunities for unique quilt patterns!  This is an intermediate class and you will need a fully functioning machine, full familiarity with how to use the machine and be able to sew clean 1/4" seams.

Book:  Stripology Mixology 2 Book ($24.00 with class - Reg. $27.99)

Fabric: Select the size quilt you plan to make using the Athena Pattern on page 73 and bring fabric to class

Supplies:

• Stripology Mixology 2 Book
• GE Designs Arrow Ruler Stickers (2 packs total – one pack in each of two different colors)
• Stripology XL ruler – it MUST be the XL size.  Other rulers are great; however, this particular ruler has certain features we will need for this quilt pattern.
• Cutting mat + Rotary Cutter 
• Rotary Cutter (45 mm recommended; LDH brand preferred) with extra blades
• Scissors
• Good thread – preferably Aurifil
• Seam ripper
• Sewing machine with 1/4" foot
• Small iron with a thick ironing mat that the heat will not burn through to the tables we are using. 

Fabric: 

We will be doing the lap size quilt in class, 56” x 70”

•  24 Assorted 10” squares (example blues, as shown in book on pg 72)
•  2 yards of background/narrow border. 

OR-

If you want to be scrappy use:

•  24 assorted 10” background squares. 
•  1/3 yard narrow border. (In the book they used the same background fabric as their narrow border but you can use creative freedom and choose another color for this.)

•  1 1/2 yard for wide border
•  2/3 yard for binding
•  4 yards for backing (based on regular-width fabric). If using wide-back fabric, you may need less. The amount will also depend on whether the fabric has a directional print. Ask a staff member if you need help determining the correct amount.
