Stack'n'Whack Hexagons

Thursday, July 20 & 27               10:30 - 1:30

One fabric, stacked and cut randomly, turns into a dozen fascinating kaleidoscopic blocks!  Nancie shares her unique setting for these blocks, as well as tips to make construction easier.

Book:  Magic Stack’n’Whack Quilts by Bethany Reynolds

Fabric: Choose a large-scale print filled with diverse shapes. Move hinged mirrors across the fabric to evaluate the kaleidoscopic effect.

If the printed repeat is 15” or more, buy six repeats.

If it is less than 15”, buy 12 repeats.  The larger the repeat, the better.

You may wait to choose your other fabrics until after the first class.

For my setting, 53” x 75”, you’ll need:

  •       ¾ yard background (white, on my quilt)
  •       1 yard accent (yellow)
  •       ½ yard for binding

Or use the chart on page 73 in the book [”Additional Fabrics”].

Supplies:

  •       Sewing machine in good working order, with ¼” foot
  •       Thread and bobbin
  •       Straight pins
  •       Large cutting mat
  •       Rotary cutter with new blade
  •       24” Acrylic ruler, and a smaller one for convenience
  •       Glow-line Tape by Omnigrid
