April 18-19 or April 21-22, 2023
Have you ever wanted to see what long arm quilting is all about? Want to get your hands on a Handi Quilter Amara & Pro-Stitcher and take a test drive? This is the time. We are bringing in a Handi Quilter National Educator Mickie Chappelear to teach a 2 day long arm quilting class and you will get to try out everything there is. The best part, you are part of the action, doing everything in a hands-on classroom setup with Handi Quilter Amara machines with Pro-Stitchers.
This two-day class will teach you all the possibilities of a longarm machine and is best suited for those who do not own a machine, or maybe have rented or are just exploring longarm quilting. Class fee includes lunch, snacks, and all class supplies.
Day one starts with Long Arm Basics. This class will teach you all you need to know about Handi Quilter long arms including upkeep, loading the frame, threading the machine, and tension.
Day one ends with Free Motion quilting. Learn how to drive the machine yourself, stitching out designs as we progress through the class. Learn tricks to improve your skills and have fun in a relaxed learning atmosphere. People leave this class with confidence in their own skills and ready to tackle any project.
Day two starts off using the Pro-Stitcher (automated quilting). Many people think the Pro-Stitcher just does edge-to-edge designs, but it does so much more! Micki will run you through the program and show you what it's all about. Get basic knowledge of the program and understand how and why functions work the way they do. You will be able to jump right in and have the basic knowledge to custom quilt, with a little more practice.
Day two ends with Rulers. Get working knowledge of how to use rulers safely and successfully. You will learn how to use all types of rulers including straight lines, curves, and circles.
We hope you can join us and let Micki show you how fun the longarm can be!

Instructor Bio: | Micki Chappelear resides in Hillsboro, Illinois, a rural farming community where she has lived her entire life. She was introduced to her love of sewing through 4-H and doing alterations at a men?s clothing store at the young age of 16. Growing up in a family of five children, Micki shared the joy of creating crafts and sewing with her mother, who always made the family?s clothing. Later in life, Micki found her passion for longarm quilting while at a Mothers? Day outing with her sisters, taking their mother to a quilt show. While there, Micki?s sister spotted a Handi Quilter machine and said it looked like something she would like. Micki tried the machine and was hooked! After two months of dreaming about the machine and the possibilities of what she could create, and after doing her research as a consumer, she ordered the HQ Fusion? with Pro-Stitcher? and never looked back! Each day she quilts, she looks forward to turning on her machine and spending the day doing what she loves. Micki now also owns the HQ Sweet Sixteen? and all three models of the HQ Stitch machines. Micki and her husband have a married daughter and two darling granddaughters, Gracie and Piper. Gracie already has her first sewing machine and when she comes to visit she always asks to quilt. Micki stays busy making memories with her family and of course, with Handi Quilter! |
