Modern Improv Bootcamp

Wednesday, March 25 | 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM (arrive at 9:30 AM)
This class invites quilters to explore the freedom, spontaneity, and artistry of modern improv quilting. Unlike traditional patterns, improv quilting emphasizes intuitive design, and playful experimentation. Students will learn how to build dynamic compositions using techniques such as wonky piecing, free cut curves, irregular blocks, and spontaneous color. Students will discover how to work without templates and will create a series of improv blocks. This class empowers quilters to loosen the rules trust their imagination and to enjoy the joyful unpredictability of improv quilting. It’s a fun class!
Supplies:
- FABRIC SCRAPS: Bring solids, batiks, small prints Scrap fabric-prints and black/white (I will bring a bin of fabric for you to play with too)
- Sewing machine (be sure to bring your foot pedal and cords)
- Wound bobbins
- New sewing machine needle (for cottons) 80/12
- Gray thread
- Straight pins
- Ruler
- Rotary Cutter and Mat
- Scissors
- Seam ripper
- Pencil and pen and notepad
