Honey Bee Longarm Rental Program

At Honey Bee, our longarm rental program exists to give quilters hands-on experience with Handi Quilter machines—including the opportunity to “try before you buy”—while providing a supportive environment to learn, practice, and create. Our goal is to make longarm quilting approachable, enjoyable, and confidence-building for everyone.

2026 RENTAL POLICY

• Daily Rental Fee: $190
• Reservation Fee: $90 non-refundable. This fee secures your date and is transferable only with a date change made at least 7 days before the reserved day.
• Rental Hours: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. Your quilt must be off the machine by 4:30 pm so we can clean and prepare for the next day.
  • If you need up to an extra 30 minutes (until 5:00 pm) for minor finishing, an additional $25 will apply.
  • After 5:00 pm, remaining work must be scheduled for another day.

• Usage Limits: One machine per customer and one reservation per month during peak periods unless pre-approved.
• Thread: A curated selection of Magnifico thread is included; additional colors are available for purchase.
• Non-transferability: Reservation Fee cannot be transferred if the date change is made fewer than 7 days before the rental day.

PREPARING FOR QUILTING DAY

• Bring several quilt tops so you can make the most of your time.
• Inspect for loose seams; square up and press both quilt top and backing.
• Backing must measure 4–5" larger than the quilt top on all sides.
• Batting should measure 2–3" larger than the quilt top; we offer a wide selection in-store.
• Quilt tops must not contain embellishments such as buttons or sequins.
• You may visit ahead of time to choose Pro-Stitcher patterns and thread colors.
• Optional Quilt Loading: We can load your quilt on the frame the night before for a $25 fee. Drop off your quilt top before 4:00 pm the prior business day.

QUILTING DAY

• The amount you complete will vary based on preparation, quilt size, pattern complexity/density, and experience level.
• Consider loading your largest quilt first to gauge your daily pace.
• A Honey Bee Associate will teach and guide you throughout the process, but you will load, set up, and monitor your quilt to gain hands-on skills.
• Please be patient when multiple renters require assistance.
• You’re welcome to bring lunch. A refrigerator is available, and complimentary bottled water is provided.
• Arrival begins at 9:30 am. If you arrive before our shop opens at 10:00 am, please knock and we will let you in.
• No early arrival before 9:30 am.
