Class Registration Policy

 

  • Register for classes online, by phone, or at the store.
  • Class fees and rental deposit must be paid in full to ensure your place.
  • Registration fees do not count toward rewards.
  • Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel, we require 7 days notice in order for you to receive your class fee back. Handi Quilter deposits are not transferable if less than 7 days from rental day.

Available Classes


Reserve a Handi Quilter Long Arm with Pro-Stitcher for the day! The daily rental rate is $150, and a non-refundable $50 Reservation Fee is due to secure reservation. The Fee is transferable if a date change is completed at least 7 days before the booked date.

We are so excited to bring in another Handi Quilter educator for another year of education and creativity! If you are into quilting and would like to start exploring the world of longarm quilting, then this is the place to be! Karen Kingis a fabulous teacher and fun to watch and learn from! Over the course of the two-day event, you will learn a ton of pro-tips to either get you started on your quilting journey, or give you all sorts of ideas on how to expand your creativity with what you already know! This two day class is geared towards new owners, or those looking to get started with longarm quilting.

FIRE Colorway - The 2024 5@the Hive SPEED SEWING is a 6-month block of the month program with 2 regular blocks per month, where you pay $15 per colorway when you sign-up. The regular blocks are 12" finished. Extra Blocks, if you choose to do them, are $7.50 each, including tax. The Extra Blocks, over the 6 months, will be the 12" block borders and miscellaneous pieced blocks to fill in around the 12" blocks.

** If you took a class from Kathy you will receive a $10 in-store credit when you come to class ** Join us in for an Open Sew Day in our fabulous classroom. You will have use of a height adjusting table and chair, cutting tables, and the best iron ever. Microwave and refrigerator are available for your use and bottled water is stocked in the frig. Registration fee is transferable to another person the same day but not refundable. Call to let us know if someone will be coming in your stead.

A great way to use that special fabric you don?t want to cut up. This pattern is very beginner friendly and fun for experienced quilters, too.

Monthly AccuQuilt Club

Cost: $ FREE
In this class, you will be given the opportunity to create a simple Rail Fence quilt top from start to finish. You will learn to use different quilting tools including a rotary cutter and ruler to cut your fabric accurately. You will learn how to sew accurate 1/4? seams, and the importance of pressing your fabric before and during the construction of your quilt top.

This is an open sew day for the beginning quilters to come into the shop and spend the day quilting in a community environment. An instructor will be present to assist you as you work through the construction of one or more of your beginning quilting projects.

Design your own quilt around the traditional Jewel Box/ Buckeye Beauty block. Make it scrappy or coordinated. Nancie will assist with the math, colors and construction, while offering great tips along the way. The class meets once a month for three months.

French Roses is a really fun project. Good for beginners & advanced quilter alike. Purchase all new fabric, use up scraps or combine the two. The results are stunning, and you?re sure to get awesome feedback from friends & family on just how talented you are!

You will learn techniques that will make paper piecing enjoyable and understandable. You will become familiar with the terms and how to figure out other patterns on your own. You will complete at least one block in class.

Take the fear out of creating a collage! I will work with you through the process of fabric selection, piecing, working with steam A Seam II, and building your design and how to finish your masterpiece.

Students will learn how to sew 2 dog or cat collar inserted bandanas, sizes XS, S. M or L. Fee is $25 and includes all materials. Honey Bee Quilt Store will provide a variety of fun colorful holiday fabrics. All profits will be donated to Pug Rescue of Austin.

Join Texas certified art teacher Michelle Stoeffler for a fun filled 2 hours of machine sewing, where children ages 8-12 will sew 2 heart shaped pillows. One for themselves and one for the Pug Rescue of Austin?s foster dogs. All funds will be donated to Pug Rescue of Austin. All materials provided.

Weekly clues begin on February 23. New clues will be available every Friday at Honey Bee. Follow each of the instructions and sew basic units at home. On March 29, come to class to discover the final design.

Join us at the Open House each semester. Open House is an opportunity to learn about upcoming offerings, meet the teacher, and learn what classes are best for you. Attendees receive priority for registering for the classes. Online registration is open the following day. Register for Open House, and you will receive an email and a text the day before the event. We are offering this class before Valentine?s Day so you can easily get this done for that special someone. The easy cutting makes this a breeze and a fun project!

Want to explore the modern quilt world? This is a fun class with no rules, freedom from perfection, play with color and create something outside the box! Use those fabric scraps! It is a great way to take traditional blocks and made them modern! We will use scraps...I hope you all have some! It is a very creative class. Come and play!

The Scrappy Quilt Club meets on the first Saturday of each month. Collaborate with other quilters and form ideas about using your fabric scraps? Learn new ways to use and store your scraps and where to get new ideas. Each month will feature a different technique/procedure. Club meetings will be discussion/lecture only, no sewing. And you are encouraged to bring your scrappy quilts for show and tell. REGISTER TO RECEIVE MONTHLY REMINDERS

This beautiful quilt finishes at 60" x 60" or can easily be upsized to a 99" x 99" queen sized quilt. A perfect introduction to Quiltworx patterns - this class will take you from start to finish. Once completed, you will have the confidence to move on to more complicated Quiltworx patterns.

Use your scraps, selvedges, or planned color patterns to create a fast, colorful foundation pieced block. This is a fun, easy class that will create a wonderful unique look.

Join us for a fun day for a Stripology class. We will be learning how to use the XL Stripology ruler to cut your prep time in half so you can enjoy more time sewing. We will be doing the Zoe pattern from the Stripology Mixology 3 book. This pattern lends itself to much creativity in the placement of the blocks for endless opportunities for unique quilt patterns! This is an intermediate class and you will need a fully functioning machine, full familiarity with how to use the machine and sew clean ?? seams.

This is a fun evening out to share finishing projects or just getting some help, time to sew at your own pace on whatever you want. Bring that box of 3 year old blocks and decide how to lay them out, bring scraps and try some string piecing, anything goes.

Create 3 unique fabric postcards, good for Valentine?s Day, Easter, or ?Thinking of you?. All materials will be supplied except a sewing machine and threads. At the close of class, extra kits may be available at $2 each (cash).

Simple Whatnots Club 13, produced by Kim Diehl, includes 8 fun to stitch small quilts. Project sizes are typically 40" square or smaller. These patterns are approachable and easy to finish with clear, concise directions that also provide tips tricks, and quilt advise. The club will start in February and go through September. I hope you'll join the fun!!

Perfect for quiltmakers of all experience levels ? these are also the perfect introduction to foundation paper piecing and Quiltworx patterns. Do you enjoy making charity quilts? Let?s take them to a new level but without lots of additional sewing! Using the WAVE RULER ? learn how easy it is to take advantage of border prints, large scale prints and big blocks and still create a super fun quilt anyone would be happy to receive. This specialty ruler adds a little fun and whimsy to what otherwise would be ?regular old quilt? 😉.
