Class Registration Policy

 

  • Register for classes online, by phone, or at the store.
  • Class fees and rental deposit must be paid in full to ensure your place.
  • If you receive an email indicating that your Class Registration Order has shipped, it's a standard notification, not an actual shipment. It signifies that your purchase is ready for pick-up or confirms class enrollment.
  • Cancellation Policy: A refund for your class fee requires a cancellation notice at least 7 days prior to the scheduled date. Longarm rental deposits cannot be transferred if cancellation occurs within 7 days of the rental day.

Reserve a Handi Quilter Long Arm with Pro-Stitcher for the day! The daily rental rate is $190, and a non-refundable $90 Reservation Fee is due to secure reservation. The Fee is transferable if a date change is completed at least 7 days before the booked date.

Welcome to the 21st year of 5 @ the Hive. This year we are featuring a 10-month block of the month program with Stonehenge fabrics. In September, you attend your first class (the day and time you chose for the entire year) and receive your first block (fabric and pattern). In subsequent months, attend the class on your chosen day and time. Show your completed block from the previous month. Receive the new month's block for free. If you miss the class or don’t complete your block, pay $5 to continue the program, and remember to pick up your block and complete it before the next class to avoid being charged again.

Come join us for a free club to learn all about using the Accuquilt system! Explore new ways to utilize your strip dies, cube systems and Block on Boards (BOB dies). This club meets on Odd numbered months. (Jan, Mar, May, etc.). The Accuquilt Club for Embroidery meets on Even numbered months.

This is an open sew day for the beginning quilters class to come into the shop and spend the day quilting and finishing up their beginning quilt project. An instructor will be present to assist you as you work through the construction of your quilt.

Make a quilt of your own design with this traditional block made out of Flying Geese units. Nancie will share her easy piecing methods and help you with math, colors, layout, etc. You’re sure to learn some cool quilting tricks along the way. Class meets once a month for three months.

Forget everything you know about making a Lone Star quilt. The QuiltSmart foundation method simplifies the construction of this challenging star design with no angles to measure and no templates. In this class you will construct the traditional star using a JellyRoll or 2 ½” strips. Recommended for Intermediate to Advanced Quilters.

This class invites quilters to explore the freedom, spontaneity, and artistry of modern improv quilting. Unlike traditional patterns, improv quilting emphasizes intuitive design, and playful experimentation. Students will learn how to build dynamic compositions using techniques such as wonky piecing, free cut curves, irregular blocks, and spontaneous color. Students will discover how to work without templates and will create a series of improv blocks. This class empowers quilters to loosen the rules trust their imagination and to enjoy the joyful unpredictability of improv quilting. It’s a fun class!

The Fractured Star was designed as a beginner pattern to introduce quilters paper piecing. The project is fast, uses only 1 foundation block, employs simple cutting techniques, and is a fun way to jump into your first paper piecing project. It is meant to make those new to the process find confidence, understanding and success. Finished size is 80in x 80in.

The Scrappy Quilt Club meets on the first Saturday of each month. Collaborate with other quilters and form ideas about using your fabric scraps? Learn new ways to use and store your scraps and where to get new ideas. Each month will feature a different technique/procedure. Club meetings will be discussion/lecture only, no sewing.
